Bracelet Avithos

This grey-turquoise bracelet is made of ghost rope I have collected on Avithos Beach which is situated on the island of Kefalonia/Greece.
Ghost ropes are not only bad because they are almost always made of plastic these days, but they are especially harmful because of the risk of entanglement or entrapment for marine life.
From the better preserved ropes I make awareness bracelets. They should remind the wearer to consume plastic consciously. It is also a good starting point for a conversation about the plastic problem when someone notices the bracelet and asks about it. And they look good too :-)
Any money I make from this shop will go towards the next trip to collect plastic from beaches and towards building and maintaining a website that will inform and raise people's awareness of the huge plastic problem we have.
